About us
Most of what we do is not glamorous. It is a power supply board that surged when the lights came back on, a set of LED backlight strips that have finally given up after eight years of heat, a capacitor the size of your fingernail that dried out and took a R12 000 television down with it.
Those are cheap repairs on expensive equipment, and they are the reason we exist. The panel — the part that actually costs money — almost never fails. The boards around it do, and boards can be repaired.
We also tell people, regularly, that their television is not worth fixing. It costs us the job every time we say it. We say it anyway, because the alternative is taking money from someone to postpone a decision they were going to have to make regardless.

Dead, clicking, or stuck on a red standby light. In South Africa this is nearly always the power supply board, damaged by the surge when load-shedding ends. It is the most common fault we see — and one of the most repairable.

The classic backlight failure. Shine a torch at an angle across the screen — if you can faintly see a picture, the panel is alive and well and only the LED strips behind it have gone. Replacing them restores the set completely.

The panel is most of what you paid for, and it is remarkably durable. It is the boards around it — power supply, mainboard, T-CON — that give up. And boards can be repaired.
A power supply repair or a set of backlight strips costs a small share of what a comparable new television would. The arithmetic is rarely close.
A good five-year-old panel routinely outperforms a cheap new one at the same price. Replacing it is often a downgrade you paid for.
We carry the components that fail most often, which is why most of our repairs are finished on the day we arrive.
